Accessibility

The Friends of Theatre web site has been designed to comply with the latest standards on usability and accessibility.

  • the text size can be adjusted to meet individual preferences
  • the colours have been selected to give good contrast and avoid common eyesight problems
  • keyboard shortcuts are provided in line with UK government standards
  • the HTML can easily be read by assistive technologies such as screen readers

Specific features are implemented in different ways depending on which browser you are using. The following sections give some examples for the common browsers.

Adjusting text size

In Firefox, go to the menu View>Zoom to select a smaller or larger text size.

In Internet Explorer, go to the menu View>Text Size to select a smaller or larger text size.

In Google Chrome select Zoom from the menu to make text bigger/smaller.

In Safari go to View>Make text bigger/smaller.

Alternatively for all browsers you can use CTRL- and CTRL+ to adjust the size of the display using the keyboard, or hold CTRL and use your mouse scroll-wheel. (Command+ and Command- on a Mac)

Access keys

Access keys provide short cuts to key parts of the site. The access key combination varies by browser type as follows:

Mozilla Firefox ALT + SHIFT + accesskey
Internet Explorer ALT + accesskey + RETURN key
Chrome and Safari ALT + accesskey
