Why join Friends of Theatre?
- Visit theatres that may be new to you.
- Discover opportunities to meet actors, directors and producers.
- Meet like minded theatre lovers and increase your circle of friends.
- Support the industry through ticket purchase.
In addition to our regular outings our events will take you to theatres you might never discover by yourself, perhaps on the London fringe. We go to matinees outside London for special events (eg Peter Hall’s Godot in Bath).
Once a year we organise a weekend away for a concentrated few days of theatregoing. In recent years we have visited Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh and the Midland hub of Coventry. These weekends provide a feast of theatregoing and give an opportunity to see famous provincial theatres and enjoy regional drama.
Value for money
Our ability to make group bookings, and the absence of any management charges, means that we can always ensure very good value for money at every event. Such surpluses as we may make are put back into the industry, either towards support for training at accredited Theatre Schools, or support for outstanding fringe work.
What does it cost?
Membership of Friends of Theatre costs £25 per year.
Additional members at the same address, covered by one mailing, can join for £10 per person. At most of our events guests are welcome, but will be subject to a small surcharge on the event price. Guests who choose to join immediately after attending an event will be entitled to deduct this surcharge from their annual subscription.
